Antonia Shaw

A born and bred Londoner, Antonia first explored mindful movement when she tried her hand at parkour (free-running) on the streets of the city. A few years later a close friend took her to Cat Alip-Douglas’ class at Sangyé Yoga School. Antonia immediately resonated with the yoga practice: the focus on the breath, the strong meditative movement and the spiritual teachings. This compelled Antonia to complete her 200 hour teacher training and subsequent apprenticeship at Sangyé Yoga School under cat’s mentorship in 2017.

When she is not at the studio Antonia can usually be found in contemporary art galleries, where she organises exhibitions. She has studied philosophy, psychoanalysis and consciousness for over a decade, exploring fundamental human nature through the lens of visual art. Her background feeds into her yoga practice. Antonia is drawn to the mat because it allows for self-reflective, physical and philosophical inquiry, and it is this exploration and introspection that she aims to bring to her practice and teaching.

Antonia would like to send her gratitude to cat, for her generous guidance and encouragement and her thanks to all the teachers along the way. She is indebted to the practice, the reminder that we can chose to live with purpose, and that we can all, always, begin again.
