The teachers below will rotate monthly teaching the SYS Community class:
Anna Krasnow
“Anna started practicing Hatha yoga in 2011 and has been hooked ever since. Wherever life and travels take her, she always looks for places and teachers to help develop and maintain her practice.
In 2017, Anna briefly escaped the lab where she was pursuing a PhD in neuroscience and flew off to India. In Goa, she completed her first 200-hour yoga teacher training with an Ashtanga teacher, Acharya Lalit Kumar at the Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre.
More recently, Anna completed a 200-hour Sangye Yoga School Teacher Training and apprenticeship with Cat Alip-Douglas. Anna is grateful for the teachers and teachings that she was fortunate to encounter on her path.”
Beena Dayaram
I was first introduced to Jivamukti Yoga London in 2006, now Sangye Yoga School, and I have called it home ever since. Having loved gymnastics as a kid, the transition to yoga mat seemed very natural, however, I had no idea of the depth, strength or impact of the yoga teachings. Transformation is an understatement. One class with Cat, and I have never looked back. Fast forward to 2020, I completed the 200 hour Teacher Training under the guidance of Cat and Phil.
Yoga practice has allowed me to live more mindfully and in a more compassionate way, by recognising the very simple (yet difficult) act of moving in sync with the breath. A breathing practice that reminds me to respond rather than react. Yoga is/ and will always be my foundation for cultivating inner strength/ resilience, a tool that without fail, continuously supports me through life’s celebrations and challenges.
Forever grateful.
Jason Yabut
Jason started his yoga practice at Sangyé Yoga School in January 2018. For several months he would regularly attend the Basic/Level 1 classes. You will still find him in those (and other) classes today. He strongly believes that each opportunity to practice is an opportunity to learn/experiment, to strengthen the mind-body connection and that with regular practice what you do on the mat will eventually make its way into your life ‘away’ from the mat.
Jason completed the 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Course at Sangyé Yoga School in 2019. He is grateful to cat and phil for trusting him to lead classes in this space, for putting up with his perceived flakiness/late messages and for the time they have dedicated to teaching and inspiring a countless number of practitioners.
Katie Keith
Katie was drawn to yoga for the asana. For the opportunity to exercise the body rigorously and seek respite from the busyness of daily life. Katie also wanted something that delivered more than just the sweat. Katie found this in the hallowed halls of the Sangyé Yoga School.
Katie wants others to benefit from the gains of yoga and the teachings just as she has and continues to do so. Ever the student, Katie completed the Sangye Yoga TT and more recently is “Apprentice-shipping” with Cat.
Mishari
“Mishari is a certified yoga teacher and has trained at Sangyé yoga school in London founded and run by Cat Alip-douglas and Phil Douglas. Mishari completed his 200 hour teacher training 2020 and immediately after graduating apprenticed with Cat for three months.
Mishari comes from an Investment banking background. A stock broker since 1999, a fast based industry that can very easily loose touch with the more genuine realities of life and the importance of community. Mishari stopped brokering in 2015. Although still in the finance industry, he found refuge in his yoga daily practice and experienced more than glimpses of the body and mind uniting.
Mishari’s style of teaching is light-hearted yet physically and mentally demanding. Mishari encourages a focus on breath creating a rhythm and flow to the practice. Mishari incorporates a diverse music playlist at certain intervals in his classes that help find energetic sense of joy and freedom.”
