“The Seven Points of Mind Training” is a Tibetan Buddhist teaching (based on several texts of the same name) that presents a comprehensive model for attaining enlightenment, centred around the idea of changing our attitudes into the two types of “awakening mind” (bodhicitta).
The teaching is divided into multiple slogans, each representing a specific practice idea, and includes detailed instructions on multiple forms of meditation, including the practices of compassion, loving kindness, and emptiness. In addition, there are special explanations on how to prepare for the inevitable moment of dying, and detailed instructions on how to understand that our spiritual practice is indeed bringing results.
In this 10-part course Michael Lobsang Tenpa will present practical instructions on the “Seven points”, guiding the participants in a series of meditations and explaining how to use each slogan in our daily life. He will also explain the basic concepts related to the teachings of “mind training” (Tib. Lojong) in general, and give basic instructions on the practice of Avalokite?vara, or the Buddha of Compassion, which are strongly related to this system of training.
Each session will include meditation, explanations, and opportunity for Q&A.
Michael Lobsang Tenpa (he/they) is a Tibetan Buddhist translator, meditation instructor, Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) teacher and student of EcoDharma.
