Foundations: Hands on Assists Series with cat pt 2

Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th April 2:15pm-5:15pm

£90 /  £80 early bird (before 1st April)

Series 2 – seated/forward bending/twists postures
must attend both days

These sessions are being offered since not everyone has the time or means to pursue an apprenticeship. Whether or not you are teaching or exploring possible self-assists (intrigued students with a consistent practice), techniques and mechanics are always helpful to review and refine. We will explore how assists are intended to empower students and not make them/us reliant on the teacher, however skilled they are. This course calls upon mindful intention and precision of contact yet casual in its exploratory nature. It will allow a more organic rate of comprehension than intensively within a course that would run longer but also be heavy with material to absorb. It will aim to be a light-hearted learning environment, no pressure to “perform”. Let’s explore what’s intuitive, drawing from awareness in your own practice and being assisted, hopefully well. There may be a lot to take away and apply but most importantly, simply note key factors that resonate with you, put in the time and be patient.

The first day will begin with a brief review of hands on assists principles but will involve a practical segment soon after. The second day will begin with a brief Q&A from material/asanas covered Saturday and then move into practical segment again. If applicable, please review notes from sangyé tt so that we can cover more actual assists exchange during our time together. Those who haven’t attended sys tt will be receive a copy after the 11am class – to be reviewed during the break. The intention is to utilise partner work/exchange in a purposeful (joy-full:) approach. Invite a teacher friend if you prefer to work with a specific partner. It will be easier for 2 people to compare notes. There will be a max cap – small group setting. Feel free to speak to someone who attended the first series to get their honest perspective of their experience. You may find that the time together will cover and deliver more than assist techniques.

mantra, as always: “it’s not about me”.
